鸡仔饼的由来

相传,鸡仔饼已有一百多年历史,其时,在广州河南(即现在的海珠区)王家祠附近,有一名叫小凤的婢女,在主人家只能吃残羹剩饭。为了温饱,当有多出的剩菜饭时,她便会全部收集起来,加入一些面粉,梅菜汁,熬干后压成餅块。然后交给在成珠餅家当点心师傅的叔父代为烘干,以备充饥之用。后来此餅送人品尝时,大受赞赏,并名之为“小风餅”。从此,小凤餅名声远扬,而成珠餅家也大发横财。因“小凤”在广州俗称“鸡仔”,于是,小凤餅便改名为鸡仔饼,也是广州有名的特产。

后来“鸡仔饼”流传到马来西亚霹雳州美罗,再经过多次改良之后,薄皮鸡仔饼除了原有的白芝麻外,再添加了黑芝麻,薄皮香脆可口,唇齿留香的口感更胜原来的那一款。樂記香脆可口的鸡仔饼也从此成为了霹雳州十大手信之一。
